Nursery theme Reveal

Hello Y'all!

I have shared little glimpses of the nursery along the way, but I have yet to reveal the big picture. So without further ado... the nursery!

Our nursery is inspired by Noah's Ark, but from the perspective of being on the ark, as if it were an antique sailing vessel with carved wood paneling. Think stained wood, brass and gold accents, soft pink details, and a carefully curated collection of animals.

For years, we have had this vision in mind. Ever since our honeymoon, we have collected a stuffed animal (or two!) on nearly every trip for our future child. Thankfully, that collection has grown quite large over the years. So, how do you design a nursery around such a wide variety of animals? You put them all on the ark.

During this season of pregnancy, though, Noah's Ark has taken on an even deeper meaning as we prepare for our little one and keep this theme at the forefront of our minds.

As we've studied the story, we've learned something I had never really considered before. The ark, built exactly according to God's perfect instructions, was missing the very things we associate with sailing vessels. There was no steering wheel, no rudder, and no sails. Noah had no way to redirect the ark during the storm because charting the course was never his responsibility. His responsibility was simply to trust God, who faithfully carried him—and everyone on the ark—through the storm.

Wow.

How often do we try to take the wheel ourselves? How often do we try to set our own course, only to be battered by the waves because it wasn't the path God intended? True faith means surrendering control and trusting that God knows where He is leading us, even when we cannot see what lies ahead.

Now, in my third trimester, whenever stress or worry begins to creep in, I look into the space we are creating for the precious blessing He has entrusted to us. In those moments, I am reminded to thank God for being the ultimate Captain—faithfully guiding us through every season, even when we cannot steer the ship ourselves.
