Wedding Wednesday No. 4: Save the Dates

Hello, Y'all!

Planning a wedding can be very stressful, but as an artist, I am very excited about all things pretty, especially the paper. The Save the Dates is the first look your guests will see into your wedding design and an essential piece of mail to get everyone excited to celebrate. Just like your childhood art, the Save the Date will stay up on the fridge for at least the next six months to a year, so I didn't take designing the Save the Date lightly.

When envisioning the Save the Dates, I knew I wanted to incorporate the gorgeous photography of Erin Daniel Photography from our proposal (read the proposal story here) and watercolor elements. I had the idea of creating a full blue and white pattern sharing our favorite hobbies and items that bring us joy to add a personal touch to the wedding decor. I loved it so much and couldn't wait to share, so I decided it would be the perfect back to the card. I had a hard time picking a favorite photo for the front; there were many great options! So I sent several options to friends and family before deciding on the dancing photo. For fonts, I love playing with script fonts with sans serif for a balance of fun yet easy to read.

To elevate the card a step further, I went with a light blue envelope. Amazon and evenlopes.com have great envelope options to customize your Save the Date. Every day people get letters, bills, and junk mail in white envelopes. I wanted guests to open their mailbox with a smile seeing a different piece of mail, something special.
