Hello Y'all
Last week I got to celebrate my birthday by finally getting to visit Draper James, the Atlanta location. And y'all it was worth the wait, the store was more darling and cuter than I could ever imagine! All the blue and white, it was paradise. We were greeted with the warmest southern welcome and a little sparkling beverage to start the birthday celebrations.
Then I spent the next two hours trying on at least 75% of the store haha! So I thought it would be fun to share a little sizing and product review on some current items because the sizes did vary from item to item and with only 4 locations most of us shop online for our Draper James. Keep reading if you are interested in a particular item and don't wanna guess on sizing and fit.
For reference, I am 5' 2" and regularly range from a 6 to 8 in dress sizes.
Dresses:
Linen Button Front Dress- This linen fabric is even better in person but I found the sleeves tight, and I couldn't button the dress with my bust size when wearing the size eight so if you are "gifted" like me I would size up one or even two sizes.
Gingham Love Circle Dress - The gingham is perfect, and the cut is classic. I would say this dress is true to size but again a little tight across the chest. I only didn't pick this dress because it was similar to ones I have already from Loft and JCrew and I wanted something a little different.
Floral Linen Wrap Dress - This print is glorious, but it runs super small. I tried on the 6 and could not wrap it all the way I would size up by two maybe even three sizes if you like your wrap dresses the perfect amount of form fitted and cozy.
Belted Sleeveless Chambray Ruffle Shift Dress - I found this dress to be darling and runs large. I fit in a small, but due to being 100% cotton I would size up to a medium. My mom surprised me with the dress as an early birthday gift in a large, and it still fits excellent due to little belt it can be a bit big and not be frumpy.
Bell-Sleeve Lace Dress - This dress was true to size, I just never been a fan of lace but if you like it it has a great fit!
Embroidered Faux Wrap Dress - I LOVE this dress, and it ended up being my Easter dress, the fit is so flattering. I sized up to a ten because it is 100% cotton and fit a little tight. Such a flattering cut and love the sleeves and embroidery details.
Printed Denim Shift Dress - The pattern is super cute. The dress didn't flatter my body type and I found the sleeves and chest tight. A bit boxy for me.
Bottoms:
Eyelet Button Front Skirt - This pretty skirt went home with me, and I can't wait to style it. The medium was slightly big, but the small was too tight in the hips, so I went big, again 100% cotton, so a little room isn't a bad thing.
And don't get me started on the eyelet pattern, best eyelet piece I have seen in a while!
Stripe Flounce Skirt - True to size and super cute! The stripes weren't my personal style, but the skirt was adorable and flattering.
Mid Rise Skinny Jean - My new favorite jeans. I wasn't even on the lookout for jeans but tried them on to try on tops and then I needed them. They are thick, high-quality material and hit in all the right places; I went with a 29 so just about true to size. I also love the blue and white seersucker on the outer seam when you cuff them! The details are killer.
Tops:
Swiss Dot Flutter Sleeve Top- This top made me feel like a vintage circus but in a good way. I like a looser fit on flouncy tops like this, so I sized up to large. This top will be on repeat in my wardrobe all summer.
Chambray Flutter Sleeve Top- Love the flutter sleeve, being a little chesty the medium was a little tight but still comfortable.
Printed Denim Popover Top - This top is true to size, the eight fit fine, but due to my short arms, the sleeves hit at my elbow crease, if you have longer arms, it is super cute, and I love the fringed edge.
Linen Puff Sleeve Top - Loved this linen top! The sleeves were a little tight but due to it being linen they piping with loosen some and would be perfect after a couple of wears. But the length and fit of the rest of the shirt is perfect and true to size.
Triple Bell Shoulder Tee - Super soft and a comfy fit, definitely true to size.
Scallop Coat- When we picked the Embroidered Faux Wrap Dress as my Easter dress this coat just needed to come with us. I got an 8 and had room for sleeves without stuffing and tightness.
Solid Long Sleeve Button Down- This button down is true to size which is rare with being a little chesty. I loved the details on the cuff and collar as well.
