Whole30 Wednesday : Why I am doing Whole30

Hello Y'all!

Okay, I jumped onto the bandwagon. I am starting this year with Whole30! Due to traveling and wanting to set ourselves up for success my family and I didn't begin Whole30 until the January 7th. And oh man I had sugar cravings yesterday, but I did not cave! I have been eating so much junk and sugar lately, so I am ready to for the Whole30 kick in the butt to cook healthier and think about what I am putting into my body. I am also thrilled to announce that during my Whole30 experience I will be posting Whole30 Wednesday posts about what recipes we liked, what our shopping list looks like and more!

For those of you that don't know what Whole30 is, it is a 30-day diet that helps to put your mind and body back on track by eliminating grain, sugar, dairy, alcohol, soy, and legumes. For 30 days you focus on reading the labels and eating cleaner. Meaning, consuming fewer preservatives, and additives. Y'all I am amazed by how much sugar is added to things! If you are interested in learning more details, I have linked the Whole30 website HERE.

I decided back at the beginning of December that I wanted to do Whole30 this year. For the last couple of months, I have been terrible about drinking one too many sodas and trips to Taco Bell. My skin and body have paid the price! I have felt sluggish and bloated for weeks. So now I want to try my best to hit reset and refocus my mind to choose healthier items and educate myself on the foods I am eating.

Now of course doing a diet like this is easier with a support group. I somehow was able to get my parents to agree to a family Whole30. And I am excited to make health a priority as a family. So far the hardest thing has been the introduction of almond milk instead of flavored creamers. Apparently, we like flavored creamers more than coffee, so the taste isn't a fave. I would love any tips for making coffee taste better!

I am writing this on the second of Whole30, and I already feel better, mainly from sleeping better from not having the evening sweets I have been indulging in during the holidays. I can't wait to see how I feel and to continue this journey with my parents!
