Whole30 Wednesday | We are back!

Hello, Y'all!

As I mentioned on Instagram yesterday, I started Whole 30 again! I debated doing another round of Whole 30 Wednesdays, but the interest was there so here we are! I tried Whole 30 for the first time back in January and loved how I felt; you can find my full review on a past blog post. But once summer hit and my schedule got crazy the healthy habits I had gained during Whole 30 went out the window. Sure, I could say, "Okay, I am going to make better choices," but my sweet tooth is out of control, and I needed a full challenge to commit. And luckily my parents were feeling the same way, and the Giese are doing it together again!

It has only been one day, and the cravings for carbs and sugar are pretty intense. But we will prevail! So far, this second go-around seems more natural. This time we have some tricks up our sleeve to make meals more manageable and have success without the stress. Because learning how to shop and cook for Whole 30 can be a mix of stress and exhaustion. Throughout the following weeks, I will highlight different recipes, tips, and tricks every Wednesday, to start I am sharing my top tips for starting Whole 30.

Buy the Whole 30 Slow Cooker Book. Buying it has been the most significant change for us, last time we did recipes we found on Pinterest and was always searching for a new recipe, the book has over 150 recipes, and honestly, they all look delicious. I recommend the Slow Cooker book over the original because you still get the educational content but recipes that are better on the go. One of the changes when doing Whole 30 is the amount of cooking and planning, so have some flavorful recipes that take less time is a win! We tried the meatloaf recipe (modified it for the oven instead), and it was delicious didn't feel like it was missing anything!

Frozen spiraled veggie noodles are a must. Spiraling zucchini and butternut squash can be a pain, and even if you have a fancy tool, it is still another step. Check the frozen section for the packets; many are just the frozen veggie without any added soy oil or no-nos.

Invest in spices. Take this a time to play with flavors! Some recipes are smothered in sauces and cheeses and use those to carry the dish. When you take away those elements, you're left with the need for things like fresh herbs and spice blends to make the meals exciting for your taste buds. Some are expensive, but nutmeg is nutmeg, so go for the generic brands and remember a little goes a long way.

I can't wait to share more of this Whole 30 journey with y'all! If you want to stay up to date on all things Southern'spirations and my Whole 30 Wednesday subscribe to our mailing list!
