Hello Y'all!

First off, this recap is long overdue, but I thought better late than never! But before I share all the fun images and details, let me tell you a little backstory on how God knows our dreams and ourselves better than we ever could...

I have always had a little dream of hosting painting events and teaching classes, just like I've seen other artists do, but I was nervous. I had doubts that I wasn't good enough, no one would sign up, and that I would be a bumbling idiot. See, I am terrified of public speaking, I get red in the face, my heart races, and all I want to do is run and hide. But I still had this little dream. Flash forward to last Fall, the Hartsville Garden Club reached out about a paint class. I said yes. The whole week leading up to it, I was a nervous wreck, but once the event started, I was in my element. More confident and poised than I ever was during a science symposium or any speaking engagement. I found my voice. Giving me a new reassurance that I am doing exactly what I am made to do. But you know what, God already knew me and knew that. He gave me that opportunity to grow closer to the person He plans for me. I encourage you to listen to those little dreams, pray faithfully, and let God fill in the blanks when nerves and fear try to set in.

So, after the private painting class, I decided that in 2025, I was going to put on a publicly advertised watercolor event. But I wanted this to not only showcase a watercolor class but also a well-rounded event. The type of environment that cultivates joy, laughter, and lifelong memories. And what goes better with watercolor than tea? So I got to planning my first Watercolor Tea Party. I will spare you the months that went into planning the event (if you are intersted in some event planning tips, let me know) To save a little on funds to keep ticket prices reasonable, I (with the help from my mom, mother in love, intern and husband) hosted the event, doing all the baking, cooking, decorating and floral arrangments. Shout to Casade Farms for the perfect spring blooms! And to my mom for grabbing all the hydrangeas Trader Joe's had, so we had the perfect reference flowers all around.

The class could not have gone better; the guests were a mix of old friends, customers, and new faces. Everyone enjoyed tea sandwiches, sweet treats, and charcuterie; the homemade caramel popcorn was the star, though. We all had a blast painting in the peaceful atmosphere of the Griggs Farm event barn. It was everything I ever dreamed it could be and so much more. I just praise the Lord for the success of that day and every day. You could feel the joy. And I can't wait to plan my next event!

Speaking of events, I am very excited to be teaching a sold-out class for the Lee County Library later this month! (The class was filled before I could share the event on social media!)
