Hello Y'all!
I am so excited to finally share another piece of the apartment tour with you! It has been a little while since the Balcony Tour back at the beginning of July. and I hope the rest of the apartment was worth the wait! One of the most important places in the apartment is the front entrance since it greets you as you come home or as your guests arrive. This is the place of first impressions where you get to share your style from the moment you step through the doorway.
Decorating the entryway is important but it can also be difficult. This is especially true for apartments where you don't have the luxury of a garage or backdoor mudroom. The front door is where your shoes, purses, dog leashes...everything except the kitchen sink gravitates to. This makes functionality very important when deciding what to do with the space.
My apartment has a first floor entrance, but it is located on the second floor which makes the entryway tight. I did not want to add anything that would go past the small bump out on the right side of the door - knowing me I would run into it - and I also did not want to crowd the space. I wanted the space to feel as large and as bright as possible. Thank goodness for Ikea!! The white three drawer piece is actually a shoe cabinet one would usually see in a closet or bedroom, but it fits perfectly in the space and the white finish gives a very clean look. It also holds all of the shoes that are used on a regular basis...say no to the shoe pile by the front door!!
The entryway is such a highly trafficked area and I wanted to make sure there was a capable rug to welcome any leaves and dirt that decided to come inside. I love this pineapple one my mom found! The fibers are thick and very durable against all the feet and puppy paws. Plus the pineapple matches one of my favorite prints (actually from a Hobby Lobby kit). The pineapple is a symbol of hospitality so it's only fitting to have the rug and print greet you on your way in! To keep the area looking cohesive and clean, everything is hung in white frames to match the cabinet. I love the "It's nice To Have You In Birmingham" print from Yellowhammer Creative and the grey works perfectly with the antique pewter tray. The tray is used as the catch-all for keys, sunglasses, and the occasional flower arrangement. Topping it all off is one of my favorite photos of Eloise from last Fall.
